Lynx Shock Silver Stars

A tremendous, tremendous win tonight for the Lynx. Without question their biggest road win of the year and probably their top victory of the season. Seimone was unstoppable, 30 points on 12 of 15 shooting. Candice played like a 6 year vet hitting her free throws (10 for 10), running the offense and coming up with some monster rebounds. The Lynx built a 16 point lead in the 3rd quarter, let it slip to 6 midway through the 4th but were able to hang on and win it going away. Final Score: Lynx 87 Silver Stars 74.

Player of the Game: Seimone Augustus and her season-high 30 points. She said on the postgame tonight that her teammates know when she's going to have a big game, they can see it in her eyes. Well, when she has that look in her eyes she's unstoppable, at one point she was 12 of 13 and nearly all of those were tough, contested shots.

Finally the Free Throws Fall! The Lynx finished 23 of 27 (85%). Candice 10 for 10, Seimone 6 for 7, Nicky 5 for 6. Those of the kind of numbers you have to have when you're trying to close out a team with the best record in the WNBA.

Playoff Position: With the win the Lynx are now 11-11 and hold the tie-breaker over Sacramento for the final playoff spot (the series is tied 1-1, but MIN has a 7-5 conference record vs. Sacramento's 5-6). This was a huge win to keep the Lynx in the playoff hunt. 10-12 would have put the Lynx in a tie for last, and that would have set up a near must-win situation against Seattle Tuesday, a team that's won 7 straight.

Heading Home: It will be an early morning flight back to the Twin Cities, but it's all good when you win. 4 games left now before the break and the Lynx will face Seattle, Indiana, San Antonio and LA. Finishing 3-1 over those 4 would be a huge lift heading into the 2nd half.
